The world’s leading sports streaming service, DAZN, turned to Third Republic and their specialist DevOps recruiters to support the global expansion of their capabilities.
The ChallengeAn innovative business, DAZN were looking to quickly expand their offering, and to branch out globally. However, they realised that their ability to do so was severely hindered, having previously relied solely on software engineers and application support to build their platform. It was quickly identified that they needed two key SRE hires in their London office in order to boost their competencies, as well as an entire team in Amsterdam to support their expansion plans. With the DevOps function relatively new, DAZN did not have a recruitment partner to facilitate their needs and did not have the expertise or resources in-house to source these key candidates themselves. They were battling on two fronts – unable to locate the right talent in either country, their progress was being slowed, and they were failing to fully realise the potential of their platform. |
The SolutionWith Third Republic’s reputation in the DevOps market, DAZN turned to our specialist DevOps consultant for assistance. After approaching Third Republic, DAZN met with our consultant to discuss the roadmap of what they were looking to achieve, and our consultant was able to provide advice and judgement on their hiring needs. Then, with access to unique pools of talent in London, 5 years’ experience in, and an in-depth understanding of, the DevOps market, and knowledge of DAZN’s technical and cultural requirements, our consultant was able to quickly locate viable candidates and fill both roles within 5 days of each other. In order to build the Amsterdam team from the ground up, our consultant tapped into his extensive network of DevOps professionals and they were able to hire 6 individuals in the first two months, and this number has since risen to 10. |
With the two key hires in place in London, DAZN was able to start building the DevOps team necessary to elevate their capabilities. With a further five roles expected to be filled in the next few months, and the team estimated to reach 15 heads by March 2019, these initial hires have been instrumental in removing the bottleneck on DAZNs capabilities and has enabled them to grow their platform, to continue their expansion, and has prevented them from falling months behind where they currently are.
